Task Analysis:
1. Inteeelece the student to a story, such as "Goldilocks and the Three Bears," where three different SIM distinctions arc presented. Be very careful to ensure that the story is age-appropriate and modify the story lint as needed. For ex¬ample, three superheros could be used or a story about three countries of dif¬ferent SIM could be told. As the story is told, show the student three different-size clay items as they become appropriate to the story.
2. Continue Step 1, but upon completion of the story, review the size concepts, labeling the clay objects as small, medium, and large.
3. Encourage the student to use both tactile and visual interaction with the three different-size clay items.
4. Give the three clay items used in Step 3 to the student and present on a table in front of the student three items as similar as reasonable to those the student has in his or her possession. Guide the student through the process of placing the similar items next to each other.
5. Reduce guidance as needed until the objective is met.
