In the old quarter, near the cathedral, there is a small square called Placa del Rei. Here the king and queen of Spain, Ferdinand and Isabella, met Columbus when he returned from the Americas. In a picturesque narrow street in the old town stands a Gothic palace that houses the Picasso Museum. Picasso lived in Barcelona for many years, and the museum contains collections of the artist's paintings and drawings arranged in chronological order.
