The present study has some limitations that should be taken into accountwhile considering the results. One of themis the unequal number of female and male participants. There is an on-going debate as to whether men have better interoceptive sensitivity than women [15,22,23]. Interestingly, however, the female-to-male ratios in the groups of good and poor heartbeat perceivers were similar, no reliable differences were found between men and women in the heartbeat perception task and, finally, no predictive link was found between gender and SPSs perception in the present study. It should also be noted that the female-to-male ratio is similar here to that of our previous studies on SPSs
