Select a mixer with both maximum and minimum capacities and batch sizes in mind.
Be aware of the material flow in the mixer and manage the fill order and mixing time to
achieve the most uniform blend in the least amount of time. Monitor ingredient moisture
levels, particularly forages by determining dry matter content regularly. Close the
control loop on TMR delivery systems by measuring physical and chemical
characteristics of your TMR as it is delivered in the bunk. Consider simple
experimentation on the farm which may help you understand how the mixer is working.
