This article examines the phenomenon of incentive travel and gives insights into its use by major U.S. corporations. A survey of Fortune 1000 companies and their use of incentives — especially incentive travel — is the basis of the article. Characteristics of incentive travel are discussed, differences between corporations that use incentive travel awards and those that do not are examined, and a demand model of incentive travel choice by corporations is developed using logit analysis. The model is tested using the empirical data from the survey.
