What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxBangkok, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxBangkok event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized
About TEDxBangkok
We believe a society can only thrive forward if its people are empowered with ideas and inspiration to innovate, think different and make a difference to themselves and the society. TED and its content serves exactly for these purposes, to spread ideas and inspirations. We are a group of volunteers hoping to bring TED into wider audience and more general public in Thailand to test and take the chance to make our beliefs become true.
TEDxBangkok founders are TED Open Translation Project translators. We ourselves translated over 300 talks and coordinate a group of 200+ volunteers to translate over 750 TED Talks to date. After actively running TED: Thai Translators for about a year, sharing Thai-subtitled TED Talks to the Thai community, we received very positive responses from followers of all age. It’s time to step our belief one more step forward.
Under the same principal idea of spreading ideas and knowledge for a better society, TEDxBangkok was born with the aim to convert audience into actions, ideas into changes, and possibly positive impacts in the long run.
