investigated the
effect of different levels of luminance on the survival and growth of juvenile Penaeus
semisulcatus, and demonstrated no significant effects on the growth while the survival was
found to decrease with decreasing light intensity, so the optimum level of illuminance for
juvenile P. semisulcatus was in the range of 23000– 32000 lx; Moss et al. (1999) found
that there was no significant effect of light intensity on the growth of early-stage
phyllosoma larvae of a rock lobster; while Hoang et al. (2003) showed that the growth
rate of juvenile P. merguiensis under 750 lx was significantly higher than that under 75 lx
