contained no information on design to resist fretting
fatigue in the past. Lessons learned often get repeated by
failures in the field. These mini-case studies illustrate this
point in that if a design manual had been available to
empower engineers and others to make the appropriate
fretting fatigue decisions in the early stages of design it is
highly likely the failures would not have occurred and
the redesigns would not have been necessary
