CO2 biofixation rates of S. obliquus SJTU-3 were above
0.246 g L1 d1 with the CO2 concentrations from 5% to 20% high
levels, the highest value of the maximum CO2 biofixation rate
was 0.288 g L1 d1 in the present of 10% CO2 at day 3 (Fig. 3, Table
2). The changes in the CO2 biofixation rates of C. pyrenoidosa SJTU-2
were similar to that of S. obliquus SJTU-3. The maximum CO2 biofixation
rates of C. pyrenoidosa SJTU-2 were over 0.223 g L1 d1 with
the CO2 concentrations from 5% to 20% high levels, the highest
value of the maximum CO2 biofixation rate was 0.260 g L1 d1
in the present of 10% CO2. Sydney et al. (2010) obtained similar
result in C. vulgaris, the maximum CO2 fixation rate of 0.252 g
L1 d1 was obtained at 5% CO2 concentration. In this study, the
two examined microalgae showed great abilities of CO2 biofixation
under the CO2 concentrations from 5% to 20% and performed the
best at 10% CO2.
