are of the highest economic importance: Coffea arabica L.
(Arabica coffee) and Coffea canephora Pierre ex A. Froehner
(Robusta coffee) (Belitz et al., 2009). Arabica beans are more
expensive and valuable because of their preferable flavor in comparison
to Robusta beans (Belitz et al., 2009; International Coffee
Organization, 2011). This fact leads to the situation that commercial
coffee beans labeled ‘‘Arabica’’ have the potential to be adulterated
with ‘‘Robusta’’ to gain economic advantage by deceiving
coffee importing organizations and ultimately the final consumer
