Doctor: It looks like you have mild sprain. In a mild sprain, swelling usually goes down within a few days. Other than that, I do not see any problems. On average, the initial treatment of a sprain includes resting, and protecting the ankle until swelling goes down for about one week. That's followed by a period of one to two weeks of exercise to restore range of motion, strength, and flexibility. It can take several more weeks to several months to gradually return to your normal activities while you continue to exercise. For now, try to relax and don't exercise. Continuing to play if you have an injury can make that injury worse. Come back to see me again if the symptoms persist, and I will do further tests.
