The most frequently observed drug poisoning in children is caused by paracetamol overdose. Treatment of poisoning caused by paracetamol overdose requires special nursing care with the application of general and specific measures.
The objectives of this care are to provide nursing care to children with febrile symptoms and paracetamol overdose and detect the possible adverse effects which this drug may produce and to N-acetylcysteine which is used in the prophylaxis of acute toxicity caused by paracetamol overdose.
The authors present their experience in a sample of 43 children, 6 of whom were treated for possible paracetamol overdose. An allergic reaction to the antidote N-acetylcysteine was detected. Nursing care is important in the prevention and treatment of adverse reactions to drugs. This abstract was translated into English by the publisher or author.
