The marbled murrelet is a small seabird that lives in coastal old-growth forests in the Pacific Northwest of North America, from mid-California to Alaska. It is listed as a threatened species due to loss of habitat as old-growth forest is logged. Oil spills off the coast and gill-net fishing have also affected this bird adversely. Falcons andowls prey upon the marbled murrelet. Its eggs and chicks are also eaten by predators, including crows and ravens.
