Dianna: In my conversation with Michelle LeBaron, author and
currently a professor in the Faculty of Law at the University of
British Columbia, Vancouver, she talked about the stages of child
development and how, in the first stage of play, a child learns
play through solitary play or playing by themselves. In the second
stage, children play by themselves in parallel with another person
or being. Then the next stage is to play together. It’s interesting to
think of this theory of play and development when you describe the
Affinity Diagram because it seems to me that you are facilitating or
orchestrating a process that allows people to arrive at new concepts
and solutions together through ‘play’ development.
