All credentials appear to increase the probability of postcollege
employment. Estimates from my preferred specification
(column 6) suggest that credential recipients experience
a 12 to 21 percentage point increase in the probability of employment
in a given quarter (equal to a 24% to 43% increase
in employment relative to pre-welfare entry outcomes). Consistent
with the estimated impacts on earnings, AAS degree
recipients’ employment gains are largest in magnitude, albeit
not statistically distinguishable from the estimated employment
gains from other credentials.
