the antimicrobial agent was discarded and the rubber pieces were allowed to dry for 15 minutes under laminar air flow and transferred into sterilized vial for SPME/ GC-MS analysis. Treated rubber was heated to 50 0C for 30 minutes before Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) fibre was injected into the vial for another 15 minutes. The volatile components were collected and analyzed using GC system by Agilent Technologies 6890N with 0.25mm x 30m x 0.25um Agilent 19091S-433 HP-5MS. The injector was set at 2800C and the temperature of GC was programmed from 500C for 2 minutes to 1700C with an increase in temperature of 100C/min for 13 minutes. Helium gas was used as a carrier with the flow rate of 1.4 mL/min. The analysis was done on daily basis for 6 days of incubation period.
