When the retention time is 0.1 s, the deviations between the experimen-tal data and theoretical results for these three gases are 4.8% (HCl),7.7% (HNO3), and 19.0% (CH3COOH), respectively. Large deviation
for CH3COOH is due to less dissociation of CH3COOH in water as
discussed before, which may modify the absorption condition at
the liquid film. Results suggest that Gormley and Kennedy equation
for a rectangular channel flow, which is suitable for predicting
the removal efficiency as a function of retention time, can be used
to design and scale up the present PPWS for the treatment of lowconcentration
soluble gases.
