This is a very common term used throughout resilience literature.
Rebounding is described as the ability to bounce back after facing a
life altering event (Gillespie, Chaboyer, & Wallis, 2007). These individuals
are able to acknowledge the adverse event but grow from it
and move toward living a new “normal”. Patients living with HIV are
able to view the disease as a chronic illness and not a death sentence,
gain a sense of control over the disease, and integrate HIV into
their life and lifestyle.
