Typhoon Goni moved over Japan's southwestern main island of Kyushu and reached the Sea of Japan yesterday morning, leaving more than 30 people injured as the strong storm shattered windows and overturned vehicles on its way.
The typhoon is still expected to bring heavy rain to western Japan today, the Japan Meteorological Agency said, warning of flooding and landslides.
As the typhoon made landfall in Kumamoto prefecture in the early morning and moved out to sea from Fukuoka prefecture in the north, power outages temporarily affected more than 470,000 households on Kyushu, according to Kyushu Electric Power Co.
