Much of the practical management of the classification is effected by a suite of 16 computer programs which control the physical display and precise content of the schedules themselves, the alphabetical index, and, most recently, the new thesaurus format. Confirmation of the robustness of the programs and of the principles of the classification which drive them is found in the ease with which the new programs for the thesaurus have been created, and their ready compatibility with the existing software.
BC2 source files are created using a text editor to generate the sequence of the classes in a specified subject, together with class marks, and with elements of text encoding or markup that determine how they will be displayed in the various
