The Kanchanaburi train route has been reopened after railway gangs cleared the track for normal service on Monday night.
The State Railway of Thailand announced the reopening of the line Kanchanaburi on Monday night after the damaged sleepers had been fixed and two carriages of the Eastern & Oriental Express and its locomotive had been moved aside.
The route was closed since Sunday morning after the international train from SINGAPORE jumped off the track in Ban Pong district of Ratchaburi en route to the Bridge over the Kwai River in Kanchanaburi's Muang district, slightly injuring two Japanese tourists on board.
The Kanchanaburi route is popular with local and foreign tourists as one of its sectors from Kanchanaburi to Nam Tok station in Sai Yok district is dubbed the the "Death Railway".
