immature compost. On the other hand, molding into
pellets has no effect on the mineralization rate over
time of nitrogen (Fig. 9). The fertilizer efficiency of
compost pellets seems to vary according to the
nature of the compost used as the raw material and
the soil conditions. It is also necessary to examine
the technology used for applying the pellets to
crops, if we are to understand fully the effect of
pellets on crops and soils.
