These days, no matter how much or how often you eat, you may still feel ravenous night and day. That's not surprising. After all, the tiny person growing inside you has caloric needs of his or her own. Although that doesn't give you license to eat anything and everything – remember, you're eating for yourself and a tiny baby, not another adult – it does explain why you're waking up hungry in the middle of the night.
What you can do about it
Have a before-bed snack. Choose something that packs a nutritional punch as well as satisfying your hunger pangs: a bowl of cereal with milk, toast with peanut butter, or a few crackers with cheese.
If late-night hunger pangs still hit, keep a few healthy snacks by your bed – like string cheese, crackers, a piece of fruit, trail mix, or a nutrition bar.
