On Friday night, three teams of ISIS attackers, acting in unison, carried out a terrorist assault in Paris that killed at least 129 people and wounded more than 300 others. Armed with heavy weaponry and suicide vests, the assailants launched attacks at a soccer stadium, a concert hall and at least two restaurants. “It is an act of war that was committed by a terrorist army, a jihadist army, Daesh, against France,” President François Hollande told the nation on Saturday from the Élysée Palace, using an Arabic acronym for the Islamic State.
Mr. Hollande declared three days of national mourning and France remained under a state of emergency. As cities around the globe illuminated their public buildings and monuments in the colors of the French flag as a sign of respect, women around the world congregated in solidarity, protest and mourning.
