Evidential Breath Testing
Both saliva and breath tube devices are not instrument-based procedures. They are read visually. If either the saliva screen or the breath tube screen is positive, the result must be confirmed by an EBT or breathalyzer instrument device. The EBT result is the one that is reported. EBT, saliva, and the breath tube are the only alcohol testing procedures approved by the Department of Transportation. Blood or urine testing for alcohol is not permitted.
