Anterior carapace very narrow, with well developed rostrum, posterior carapace broad andsubcircular. Pleon reduced, flexed beneath cephalothorax; with tergal plates distinct and calcified. Ocularpeduncles moderately long, but much shorter than antennal and antennular peduncles. Left cheliped largerthan right but not markedly so; surfaces of both chelae and carpi rugose. Second pereopods longer than third, both with rugose, often spinulose transverse ridges. Fourth pereopods equal to or less than half length of third, distinctly chelate. Coxae of fifth pereopods in males each with very short cone-like protrusions of vasdeferens. Males without pleopods; uropods symmetrical, reduced; females with unpaired biramous leftpleopods on pleomeres 2-4.
