The aim of the present study was to investigate the influenceof the reaction condition on the structure and properties of thesample torrefied under carbon dioxide atmosphere. In the currentstudy, bamboo, a grassy lignocellulose widely distributed in manyAsian countries, was torrefied under carbon dioxide atmosphereat temperatures ranging from 240 to 340◦C and a holding time of30 min. The structure of the torrefied bamboo samples obtainedat various temperatures was investigated, and the properties werestudied to evaluate the feasibility for fuel application. These obser-vations are meaningful for revealing the chemical changes occurredin lignocellulose during torrefaction and shed new light to furtherprocess.
