Using the conditions summarised in Table 1 , analytical figures of merit for morphine and oripavine from the analysis of
aqueous mixed standard solutions of the two analytes were obtained.
The detection limits for morphine and oripavine were at least an order of magnitude superior to those achieved
with other separation methodologies.
The enhanced detectability with acidic potassium permanganate was attributed to the same reasons as those for tris(2,2-bipyridyl)ruthenium(III).
