4.Court gives Sathian suspended jail sentence
The Supreme Court has handed down a two-month jail term, suspended for one year, to former defence permanent secretary Sathian Permthong-in for falsely declaring his and his wife’s assets.
The National Anti-Corruption Commission had fied the case with the Supreme had filed the case with the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions.
The court ruled unanimously that Gen Sathian intended to falsely declare 2.6 million baht in assets and 1.5 million baht in loans a year after he left the board of the Public Warehouse Organisation. The court also barred Gen Sathian from holding a state position for five years, starting from Feb 15, 2008, the date he left the post.
