Folk songs originated from human life and human culture. Most of Folk songs are expressions of joy and mirth, but African-American folk songs are expressions of a slave’s sorrow in bondage from which they have no hope of release on this earth. African American folk music in the area has roots in slavery and emancipation. Early spirituals framed Christian beliefs within native practices and were heavily influenced by the music and rhythms of Africa. African-American folk songs are valuable because they are mostly taken from the Bible. The well-known “Spirituals” were hymns that African-Americans made for themselves.
From the evidence provided by the author, I can conclude that
All of the above, we should preserve and develop American folk music because it is a valuable and should be preserved for next generations to hear.
