You can't have it all. The best person to raise a child is still one of the child's parents. Having both parents go off and work and leaving the poor kid in the care of a nanny or sitter is detrimental to the child's development. I think that it doesn't necessarily have to be the mother; if it's more convenient for the father to stay home and look after the child, he should do it instead. However, parents should stay at home and look after their children during their early lives. People who want to focus entirely on a career should delay (or avoid) having children.
