The quantifiable reductions (concentration steps were compared. Reductions after 5 min were
not always significantly different between the different concentrations,
especially for the smallest concentration step 0.25%e0.5%.
Spores of the strains DSM 318 and 4312 had significantly higher
reduction with higher concentration steps for exposure times of 30
and 60 min. Strain DSM 4313 had the lowest and strain DSM 4384
the highest reductions of all strains tested in this study. After 30 and
60 min only the concentration step 0.25%e0.5% and 1.5%e2.0% for
strain DSM 4313 and 0.25e0.5% for strain DSM 4384 were not
significantly different.
The reductions of spores between the three different exposuretimes
were significantly different for all treatment conditions and
for the strains DSM 318, 4312 and 4384. Only the strain DSM 4313
with lower reduction rates did not always show a significant difference
in reduction between exposure times, e.g. at 10 _C the
highest reduction (2.0%; 60min.) was 0.58e1.63 log CFU/ml.
