In her study, Hahn (1983) used a pilot project to illustrate the importance of positive attitudes of young children towards their peer group from different cultures. In addition, the author showed the significance of offering supplementary practicum experiences to universities for teaching at secondary school level, which would be helpful for understanding the global citizenship education and developmental learning stages. This pilot project was a study of the attitude change of 190 seventh-grade students during a three-week interdisciplinary Chicano awareness unit.
