3.2 The Linear Two-Phase Commit Protocol
In the linear 2PC, as depicted in Figure 4,
subordinates can communicate with each other. The
sites are labeled 1 to N, where the coordinator is
numbered as site 1. Accordingly, the propagation of
the PREPARE message is done serially. As such, the
time required to complete the transaction is longer
than centralized or distributed methods. Finally, node
N is the one that issues the Global COMMIT. The two phases are discussed below:
