More recently,as tudyby Berrocosoetal.(2012) did not find an
effect of diet complexity on growth rate in pigs postweaning, which is in line with our current findings. The results of
the present study may indicate that the nutrient specification of phase 1 and phase 2 diets currently used in Ireland
and the UK are unnecessarily high. They certainly demonstrate that currently used feed budgets for these diets are
excessive and that no benefit to pig growth performance
should be expected from feeding more than 1 kg and 3 kg
of phase 1 and phase 2 diets,respectively.
