Indonesia volcano ash causes flight cancellations
ndonesia's Mount Sangiang erupted on Friday, sending a huge plume of ash into the air.
There were no reports of any deaths or injuries, but residents of the sparsely-inhabited island where the volcano lies have been advised to keep inside until conditions are declared safe.
The Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation said that ash from the volcano rose to 9,800ft high and was moving eastwards.
Australian media reported that most flights out of Darwin have been halted because of the ash cloud.
Indonesia lies on the so-called "Pacific Ring of Fire" with nearly 130 active volcanoes, more than any other country.
