Because our goal is to investigate how computer
systems can be used to realize corporate memories, we
have chosen a narrower interpretation of the concept: "A
corporate memory is an explicit, disembodied, persistent
representation of the knowledge and information in an
organization". Note that this definition restricts the form
of the corporate memory, but not its contents. Any piece
of knowledge or information that contributes to the
performance of an organization could (and perhaps
should) be stored in the corporate memory. This includes
knowledge about products, production processes, customers,
marketing strategies, financial results, strategic
plans and goals etc.
