social organization of pre-modern
whaling

two sets
of
activities
-
one
related to
hunting and
the
other
to
processing
in
order
to
provide
background material
for
an
understanding
of
the
continuities
-
and
that
there
is
a
remarkable pattern
of
similarities in these
activities
in
all
which,
we
will
argue,
exist
in the
ways
whaling activities
are
still
carried
