This paper is structured as follows: firstly, the corn cob particleboard is briefly put into context and the corn cob particleboard sample preparation used is emphasized; secondly, some specific aspects related to the impact sound insulation tests performed in this research work are indicated, which include a detailed description
of the adopted facility, the identification of the main equipments used and the description of the setup. A necessary
adopted experimental procedure simplification is also indicated in this section; thirdly, the obtained experimental results are presented and discussed. The impact sound insulation gain of using the corn cob panel is numerically quantified. A comparative analysis between this panel and the most commonly applied sound insulation products in the building industry in Portugal, in terms of impact sound insulation gain, is also done in this section; finally, the main conclusions of this research work are drawn.
