The combination of omeprazole, amoxycillin and metronidazole
achieves about an 80% cure rate of H. pylori
infection in patients with active duodenal ulcers. The
total daily dose and the choice of b.d. or t.d.s. dosing
does not seem critical with this regimen. However,
metronidazole resistance may affect treatment outcome,
especially in areas with high metronidazole resistance.
Both treatments are simple and safe with few adverse
events.
