The present work is first comprehensive report on the AFM 1
occurrence in raw milk produced in Macedonia during the 2013
incidence. Furthermore, it presents the results from the coordi-
nated milk-feed sampling with aim of detecting, and possibly
eliminating the contamination source. Regarding the samples
number, the first choice of method implemented for AFM 1 deter-
mining in milk was enzyme-linked immunoassay (ELISA). After the
initial screening, the suspicious positive results were analyzed with
high-performance liquid chromatography with fluorescence
detection (HPLC-FD). Bearing in mind the experiences of the pre-
viously conducted similar surveys, such a combination is likely to
be the most accurate scheme for high throughput testing
(Shephard, 2009).
