Vallaris glabra (L.) Kuntze or bread flower is a woody climber with broadly elliptic leaves. Flowers are cup-like and white a unique fragrance of pandan or newly cooked fragrant rice. The species is popular ornamental plant in gardens of Southeast Asia.
A phytochemical investigation of the DCM extracts of the leaves this plant species resulted in isolation of four compounds. Uvol (A), Oleanic acids (B), Ursolic acids (C) and Acoschimperoside P, 2’-acetate (D) The structure of these compounds were identified using chemical and spectroscopic techniques.
