Epoxidized linseed oil (ELO) with 5.8 epoxy groups per triglyceride, molecular weight of 974 g mol−1 was kindly offered by ARD (France). Epoxidized glycerol (EG) with 3 epoxy groups per molecule, molecular weight of 260 g mol−1 was a generous gift from Nagase ChemteX (Japan). The curing agent, isophorone diamine (IPDA), with a molecular weight of 170 g/mol was supplied by BASF. Sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3 named SB), was used as harmless foaming agent and was purchased from Sigma Aldrich. The “exothermicity regulators” (ER) were chosen in mineral compounds family. Due to industrial confidentiality, their exact composition cannot be specified here. Their action is based on an endothermic dehydration reaction that is thermally activated and that produces itself above a temperature specific of each compound. All chemicals were used as received i.e. without any purification step. The chemical structure of ELO, EG and IPDA are presented
