Thank you for your enquiry regarding the REACH regulations. With an ever increasing number of SVHCs on the Candidate List, and always more in the pipeline (via the registry of intentions), we continue to receive a significant number of requests for product level information. Unfortunately these requests are always in different formats therefore we have developed one standard response that we consider best-in-class.
We apologise that we cannot reply to your specific format (which is an approach that most manufacturers also take with their downstream customers). However, our intention is to always keep you updated on our position in respect of REACH and by providing a service that falls in line with the requirements and guidance received by Farnell from UK “enforcers” the HSE, which also includes the automated provision of safety data sheets.
As a distributor, rather than a manufacturer, of the products we supply, our role in assisting our customers to deal with REACH is to provide the most up-to-date information that has been made available to us.
Please note that we can only respond to small lists of products of up to a maximum of 50 (driven only by Farnell order code), but can advise where the information that we are gathering from suppliers, on a daily basis, can be found on our website. Please refer to the attached PDF for comprehensive guidance on how to access “SVHC = Yes” information.
The blue conical flask indicates that there is an SVHC present and where our suppliers have confirmed there is no SVHC then “SVHC: No SVHC” can be found in the description attributes at product line level (access via Product Search).
We are clearly dependent on our suppliers for this information and have engaged with several hundred of them. We have a programme in place to regularly remind our suppliers of their obligations but, clearly, this is an on-going challenge for all industries in general. We have lobbied at government level regarding the burden on industry.
We have a best-in-class, systems in place to automatically send you the appropriate safety data both at the point of order and retrospectively when the manufacturer updates it (if you have ordered within the previous 12 months).
