(1) Adequacy
Adequacy refers to the measure of whether the evaluation method to be developed will enable correct checking of attainment of the target objectives/training items. For example, adequacy may be very low if working hours are measured for a target objective concerning the accuracy of finishing. If you decide the evaluation method easily, it is very likely to have low adequacy. It is a measure that should be carefully examined.
It is advised to look at the evaluation scope and method when examining adequacy. The evaluation scope is the scope of measurement of the trainees’ state. It is important to narrow down the scope to what is necessary to check the attainment of target objective/instruction items1. The evaluation method refers to the method to measure the state of trainees. As shown in the example above, it is wrong to measure working speed when accuracy is to be checked. Here, what is to be checked is accuracy.
