A Pheu Thai Party source said it was Mr Chaturon’s intention to have the moment he was detained by the soldiers publicised by foreign media and it was him who contacted the military and asked them to detain him at the press briefing yesterday.
He was detained about 3.30pm while giving interviews after a press conference he called with foreign correspondents at the FCCT on Ploenchit Road.
As a group of 10 armed soldiers arrived, one unnamed solider said: “I’m here because I was assigned to invite Mr Chaturon to report himself to the NCPO.”
