Interior “living” walls have begun to pop up everywhere in interior design and architecture but French botanist Patrick Blanc takes the green wall to a whole new level of craftsmanship and art. In his book “The Vertical Garden: From Nature to the City”, Blanc talks about the research and discoveries that led him to his niche of vertical gardening. He noticed that plants really do not need a growing medium such as soil as long as they have ample water supply. This is seen in any rainforest where plants grow on the sides of tree trunks, cliffs, rocks, and crumbling ancient cities.
