A field soil used for this study was collected from a
residential area (0–20 cm in depth) in Fuyang City, Anhui
Province, China. This soil was contaminated due to local
smelting industry. After transportation to the lab, the soils
was air-dried and passed through a 2-mm mesh. Soil total
Pb and some basic properties were determined using standard
methods recommended by the Chinese Society of Soil
Science (Lu, 1999). The soils had the following basic
properties: pH 7.93, organic matter 1.67%, Olsen-P 26.7
mg kg 1, cation exchange capacity (CEC) 16.7 cmol kg 1
and total Pb 283.1 mg kg 1.
