One of the biggest disadvantages to homeschooling is that the parents may not be as well-versed in some subjects as others. This may create a situation were the parents, who may be instructing the students in higher levels of math or science, for example, may not be able to teach the material adequately. Another drawback to homeschooling is the social isolation a student can potentially experience. In a public or private school, students mix with many other students from a variety of backgrounds. Getting to know other students helps children to develop good social skills that will serve them for the rest of their lives.
