Composting Tiger Worms (Eisenia Fetida) are fantastic for making compost, they are extremely efficient little worms, and love nothing more than eating away at your organic waste.
These worms are specially bred for surviving in a nutrient rich environment, which is exactly what you need for the best compost. Nature has provided us with the perfect waste disposal unit in the worm.
The way they move through the soil creates pathways, which actually improves moisture retention, aerates the soil and even improves the soil structure by distributing nutrients and preventing roots from matting.
Worms produce a type of natural antibiotic, which helps protect your plants from certain diseases. These worms make compost far quicker than traditional composters with the added value of producing liquid feed as well. They need minimum looking after - just remember to keep giving them your kitchen waste!
For best results, these worms work best in our junior wormery or in our tiered tiger wormery. When introducing worms to your compost, add them in the morning. This way, they'll have plenty of time to establish good burrows as they get a little disorientated at night.
Ideal for composting food waste in aerobic conditions, they need a base to the wormery so they do not follow their instinct and go to ground.
